9th – 12th Grade

Providing students with excellent academics is front and center at ACS. We begin with creating a respectful environment that facilitates learning then putting the right goals and strategies in place so that students can achieve their personal best. Solid curriculum is at the core of instruction where classroom and extra-curricular experiential activities give information life so that it becomes dynamic and relevant. Rather than being driven to score well on state standardized tests or to provide a standardized CORE curriculum, we are able to focus on developing a wide base of knowledge and critical thinking skills that can be used throughout life as foundational skills for success. All academics incorporate a Biblical worldview so that the student discovers the world as created by God as well as the principles he has put in place, all with purpose.

Curriculum

Because we are a private Christian school and dedicated to teaching the truth of God’s word and his ways throughout our curriculum, we choose courses of study that challenge our students, as well as help them to see Godly principles in all areas of learning. The method of study is quite varied and students will learn through a variety of media. In most cases, students will participate in class instruction as directed by classroom teacher.

Testing

Examinations are part of schooling. They are a way of evaluating a student’s progress. The surest way to demonstrate progress is by consistently applying conscientious, effective study techniques.

Parents are encouraged to check Renweb and Google Classroom daily to review student assignments, discipline and grades.  Parents who wish to view graded tests  sent  make an appointment with the teacher to visit the school and do so.

MidTerm Exams

Mid-Term Exams are taken in grades 6-12. Information to be covered is announced by individual teachers. Each exam constitutes 200 points of the student’s final grade.

SAT and ACT Testing

Students in grades 9-12 are strongly encouraged to take the SAT or ACT exams on several occasions. By the end of the sophomore year, students should have begun active preparation for the ACT. The ACT is geared toward students in 11th grade.

Students in 11th grade are recommended to take the ACT or SAT national exam as many times as possible during Junior Year. To complete registration for the senior year, any student who has not take the ACT prior to registration must show evidence of registration for the June testing date.

Senior Information

Acadiana Christian School is a college preparatory school. All seniors are required to take a minimum of five academic courses. At the discretion of the administration, and course availability, students may participate in up to seven courses per day. ACS seniors are required to fulfill graduation standards set by the Louisiana Department of Education.

College Bound

As students progress through high school, they will be amazed at how quickly senior year arrives.  With senior year comes the culmination of four years of hard work and the responsibility and privilege of deciding the next step of their life.  For most of them, this will include a college or university with plans for completing a degree or multiple degrees in a field of study that interests them.  Choosing a college that is a good “fit” for them can be an exciting adventure, but it can also seem intimidating and overwhelming at times.

The following PDF will help our students prepare themselves for the college bound process.
